About Kristen Lewis-Blackmer
Fitness was my frenemy for a long time. I’d put in my time at the gym, I’d worked with the personal trainers, I’d slogged through the repetitive and boring 60-minute intervals on the StairMaster. For me, the change came in 2010, not long after the birth of my second child. I designated it the “year of unnecessary lessons” and decided to try things that I’d been curious about but didn’t have the courage or confidence to do. I began my journey into Functional Fitness, engaging my whole body in a way that I’d never done before. It was hard and humbling, it was amazing, and it completely changed my life. At the end of the year, I realized that there was nothing “unnecessary” about it. It was now an integrated part of my life and was defining who I was.
From there, I began pursuing various health and fitness certifications, starting leading group fitness classes, and realized that I’d walked right into something that was far more than a job, it was a passion. It was fun. It was community building. And I was helping people make their lives better.
Fourteen years later, my commitment to this work has only grown. I see the benefits of better health in my clients everyday, and it’s the most rewarding work imaginable. Join me. I won’t tell you it’ll always be easy, but I can say with absolute confidence that it’ll always be worth it.
